Marvel Aims to Unite Heroes in a New Animated Movie

After kicking off an age of direct to video animated films with Ultimate Avengers in 2006, Marvel eventually shelved the line after it ended on the whimper that was Thor: Tales of Asgard. In the meantime, DC has moved to a three a year release schedule that is still holding strong. Well, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now know of plans for Marvel to get back in the game with Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United.

The team-up will have the heroes combine forces against the villain Zzzax and hopefully some Hulkbuster armor will also make a showing. If successful, this planned hybrid of CG and traditional animation could start off a new line of animated movies.

While I do have hopes for an entertaining film, these early shots do not blow me out of the water especially when compared to lower budget TV animation like the slick looking Green Lantern. More to come.

  1. Hopefully less CG and more 2D. That's also what i love about the DC dtv movies.
